Consul General Huang Ping visited Cincinnati
2019/08/02

On July 31st, Consul General Huang Ping visited Cincinnati in Ohio State on the invitation. During his stay, he visited Cincinnati International Airport and the Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) as well as attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese Railroad Workers Photography Exhibit.

During his visit, Huang Ping pointed out that since the establishment of China-US diplomatic relationship 40 years ago, the two countries have continuously deepened their cooperation, which not only promoted their respective development but also benefited the world. The development of China-US relations over the past four decades has taught us a valuable lesson: both of the two countries benefit from the cooperation and hurt from the fight. The two sides should enhance exchanges and cooperation as well as consolidate the foundation of friendship at the local and non-governmental levels to push forward China-US cooperation.

Huang said that Ohio has always been a pioneer in China-US exchanges and cooperation. Ohio and Hubei twinned with each other 40 years ago as the first pair of sister province/state between China and the US. Cincinnati and Liuzhou are sister cities. The investment, living and study environment in Cincinnati is well. P&G entered China as early as 1988,and almost every Chinese has used its products. The Chinese Consulate General in New York will actively support Cincinnati in bolstering exchanges and cooperation with China, expanding the pie of cooperation to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Huang Ping delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Chinese Railroad Workers Photography Exhibit. According to Huang Ping, 150 years ago, thousands of Chinese workers overcame unimaginable difficulties and made incredible sacrifices, making indelible contributions to the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. Chinese people are the developers of the United States, and Chinese culture is an important part of the US’s multi-culture. The construction of the Transcontinental Railroad is a vivid example of how the two countries’ people can achieve great things through cooperation. As for today, the Chinese people are still contributing to the development of the United States. Cooperation between China and the US in various fields benefit the people of the two countries, and even of the world. China and the US should be responsible for history and the long-term interests of the two sides’ people and push forward bilateral relations developing on the right track.

Heads of related institutions in Cincinnati warmly welcomed Consul General Huang Ping, emphasized that Cincinnati highly valued exchanges and cooperation with China. They looked forward to expanding practical cooperation with China in multiple fields and especially hope to initiate direct flights between Cincinnati and China shortly, to further strengthen cultural exchanges and continuation of the traditional friendship with the Chinese people.
