Deputy Consul General Zhang Meifang visits Time Inc. Headquarters

Deputy Consul General Zhang Meifang of the Chinese Consulate General in New York was invited to visit the headquarters of Time Inc. in New York on February 22, 2017 and met with the company's Chief Content Officer Alan Murray who also served as Editor in Chief of Fortune, and Peter Granath, Vice President of Fortune Live Media. Zhang also joined a conference call with John Needham, the Managing Director of the Fortune Global Forum.

Zhang praised Time Inc.'s efforts in helping Chinese enterprises to go global and integrating Chinese economy into the world's. Zhang encouraged Fortune to fully utilize its advantages to present more objective, just and in-depth reports on China's economy and contemporary Chinese society. The theme of this year's Fortune Global Forum, which will be hosted by Time Inc. in Guangzhou, China, on December 6 - 8, 2017 is: "Openness and Innovation: Shaping the Global Economy." Zhang looked forward to seeing companies from China and the U.S. pursue mutual understanding and deeper cooperation via the forum.


Alan Murray said that Fortune was optimistic about the prospect of China's economic development. The magazine had always been following and covering events in China in its own way. Murray also expressed willingness to keep a close partnership with the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York. Since many cities in China including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing and Chengdu had successfully held Fortune Global Forums in the past, Murray said he is confident that the 2017 Forum will not only put Guangzhou and China once again under spotlight, but also push forward cooperation between multinational companies and Chinese domestic companies.


Time Inc. is one of the world's most influential media companies - home to 22 magazine titles like Time, Fortune, People, Sports Illustrated, InStyle, Real Simple, and Southern Living. In particular, Fortune is famous for its annual listing of the top 500 largest corporations by total revenue for their respective fiscal years.

The Fortune Global Forum, founded in 1995, is an iconic annual conference held by Fortune. Among its 13 successful conferences in the past, three were held in mainland China: Shanghai (1999), Hong Kong (2001), Beijing (2005), and Chengdu (2013). The 2017 Global Forum will be held in Guangzhou, China, on December 6 - 8 this year.
