Consul General Zhang Qiyue Meets with Director Steve Barclay of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York

On February 2nd , 2015, Consul General Zhang Qiyue met with Director Steve Barclay of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York. Mr. Barclay congratulated Zhang's appointment and introduced the tasks and plans of his office. He said that his office would like to keep on working closely with the Chinese Consulate, as well as to promote trade between China and the US and to enhance American's understanding of Hong Kong.

Zhang indicated that the Consulate will keep on supporting the work of the office, expressed the willingness to work together with the office to enhance mutual understanding between local governments and citizens and thus develop the new type of major-country relations between China and the United States.

Set up in 1983, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York represents the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and promotes and strengthens the economic and trade links between Hong Kong and the 31 eastern states of the USA. Their work also includes providing information on Hong Kong and holding events to enhance cultural ties with the east coast.
