Cultural Counselor Shu Xiao Met with Mayor of Pittsburgh

On the morning of June 7, 2004, Cultural Counselor Shu Xiao, accompanied by Cultural Consul Guan Ming and Education Consul Liu Qiang, met with Mr. Tom Murphy, Mayor of Pittsburgh, in the Mayor's Office.

During the meeting, Counselor Shu first passed on the greetings of Consul General Liu Biwei to Mayor Murphy. After briefing the Exhibition of "Chinese Script: From Oracle Bones to Computer Bytes" in the University of Pittsburgh and reviewing the cooperation between the Consulate General of China in New York and the City of Pittsburgh, Counselor Shu presented Mayor Murphy a photography collection titled "Beautiful China" and expressed hope in furthering the good-will relationship and the cultural exchanges between China and the United States.

Mayor Murphy expressed thanks to the Consulate General of China in New York for bringing Chinese cultural exhibition to Pittsburgh again and recalled his two exciting visits to China. Mr. Mayor also expressed the hope in welcoming more Chinese cultural events in his city and introducing the famous Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to China.
