On January 19, 2024, Chinese Consul General in New York Huang Ping hosted a reception to share Spring Festival kits with overseas Chinese compatriots and students. Deputy Consul General Wu Xiaoming and more than100 Chinese compatriots and studentsattended the event.

Huang Ping said in his speech that Chinese government attaches great importance to the safety and well-being of overseas Chinese compatriots. The Consulate General in New York will, as always, uphold "diplomacy for the people", focus on what Chinese compatriots in the consular district want, respond to their needs and expectations, strive to provide better and better consular service.

Huang Ping fully affirmed the long time contributions made by overseas Chinese to support the development, peaceful reunification of China as well as China-U.S. relations, and encouraged them to continue to participate in China’s modernization cause, continue to contribute to China-U.S. friendship and inject new impetus for the sound and steady development of the bilateral relations.

In their speeches, representatives of overseas Chinese and students said that the Spring Festival kits not only brought warm holiday blessings from motherland, but also strengthened their determination and confidence to further promote China-US friendship.

The Spring Festival kit contains a big red canvas bag with unique Chinese style implying good luck in the new year, a New Year's greeting card filled with warm blessings from the Consulate General, a consular protection information card, festive items such as Spring couplets, Chinese knots as well as nuts and candies.
