Consul General Huang Ping Delivered Keynote Speech on China’s Economy at China Institute Executive Summit

On October 3, Consul General Huang Ping attended the 19th Executive Summit of China Institute and delivered a keynote speech on the current state of the Chinese economy. In response to ten topics of interest to the world, i.e. momentum and prospects of China’s economy, China’s deepening reform and opening-up and new initiatives to create a favorable business environment, China’s contribution to the world trading system, China’s “talent dividend”, data security, travel convenience, and opportunities for foreign enterprises to invest in China, Huang Ping explained each of them with ample data and facts to make China’s voice heard, dispel doubts and enhance confidence in cooperation.



Huang Ping stressed that the fundamentals sustaining China’s sound economic growth in the long run remain unchanged. The Chinese economy’s strong resilience, ample potential and strong vitality stay unchanged. China is committed to reform and opening-up as a fundamental national policy. China continues to create a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment. China firmly supports the WTO-centered multilateral trading system, attaches great importance to cybersecurity and protects data security in accordance with the law. China’s demographic dividend has not disappeared and the “talent dividend” is in the making. China is among the safest countries globally and protects the lawful rights and interests of Chinese and foreign businesses and individuals alike. China follows the new development philosophy, puts people at the center and enjoys enormous growth potential. It is ready to share opportunities with all other countries for common development.



Comptroller of the New York State Thomas DiNapoli delivered opening remarks. Deputy Mayor NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs Edward Mermelstein addressed the audience as a featured speaker. CEO of China Institute George Geh, Executive Director of Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and Harvard China Fund Dorinda Elliott, Chair of Hang Lung Properties Ronnie Chan and other distinguished guests attended the event and had discussions on the economic prospects of China and the US, China-US trade relations and AI development.
